Me And You Book

Father's Day is this Sunday. Have you figured out a gift yet? We're huge fans of homemade gifts. My girls are finally all old enough to get really creative with their gifts. This year we're making Me & You books for dad that I saw on FamilyFun. Even if you're a grown up making this for your grown up dad, his eyes will light up with this one because of the thoughtfulness behind it. These gifts can truly be one of a kind.

ME & YOU BOOK

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Cereal box (any cardboard will do, but you probably already have a cereal box on hand)
  • 8 1/2- x 11-inch white paper
  • Hole punch
  • Ribbon or string

HOW TO MAKE IT:
  1. Cut a 9 1/2- x 6-inch rectangle from the cereal box and place it picture-side up.
  2. Fold it in half. Stack white paper, fold the sheets into quarters, cut along the top, and set the paper inside the cardboard.
  3. Punch three holes through the paper and cardboard and thread ribbon to bind.
  4. On the left side of the white paper, you'll add a topic to compare yourself to your dad. For example, my daughter might write "I like to dance."
  5. On the right side of the white paper, you'll compare that topic to your dad. For example, my daughter wrote "I like to dance." and on the dad side she writes "You like to fish." You can draw pictures (let the kids do this if they are old enough) under each sentence to represent that topic.
