2009 Holiday Gift Guide - Anyone Can Cook

When you call yourself a homemaker, everyone expects that you know how to clean, how to cook, how to stay organized, and still have time for family and stay sane through it all. If you didn't get to take a home economics course in school or had a parent who taught you how to cook, you will probably have a hard time even boiling water.

When I first watched Ratatouille with my children, I absolutely fell in love with the quote "Anyone Can Cook." It's so true - no matter how many times I've heard someone say they can't be taught.

Better Homes & Gardens put out a great cookbook that is #3 on my Holiday Gift Guide - Anyone Can Cook. More than 550 recipes (appetizers through desserts) are illustrated by 1,000 helpful photographs that effectively demonstrate techniques in addition to showing finished dishes. If you can make it through this book, you may also consider picking up Anyone Can Bake. These books will talk you through everything step by step in an easy to understand way. You'll learn to cook in no time!

I'll also let you in on a little secret. Homemaker Hero is getting a couple of side projects next year - one of them being a food blog that will teach YOU how to cook. Yes, YOU. The official announcement will be coming out early 2010.
