It's been a while since I've posted a homemade recipe. I thought I'd start in on how to make your own dressings. Recipes for salad dressings can always be altered to become a low fat or low calorie dressing depending on what you put into it. For example, this blue cheese dressing calls for mayonnaise and you could easily substitute a fat free mayonnaise to help healthify the recipe. This particular recipe I found in my New Mexican recipe book. By the way, Sauterne is a wine - not to be confused with Sauternes wine which has a completely different taste. Be careful when picking this out that you don't choose Sauternes with an S.
BLUE CHEESE DRESSING
WHAT YOU NEED:
- 2/3 cup of blue cheese
- 1/3 cup of mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon of Sauterne
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/3 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Crumble cheese. Stir in a small amount of mayonnaise.
- Add remaining ingredients except for mayonnaise, which can be gradually added to taste and desired consistency.
- Stir ad stir until only small chunks remain.
KITCHEN TIPS: The ingredients may be altered to suit individual taste.
